How to Support NIE

The Index-Journal's NIE program is dedicated to strengthening literacy by providing educators with online digital replica  newspapers, quality instructional materials and training that will enrich the curriculum and assist in teaching reading, writing, social studies, science, mathematics and more through the use of the digital newspaper. Given the current economic conditions affecting the many school districts throughout the Lakelands, please consider a donation to NIE. Donations to NIE enables access to digital newspaper subscriptions for educators in schools that cannot afford this excellent teaching tool. At an educational rate, digital copies of the Index-Journal are available. One hundred percent of all donations sponsor copies of the Index-Journal in classrooms throughout Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens and McCormick counties.

Why Sponsor the NIE program?

Everyone wins when your business sponsors the Index-Journal's Newspapers in Education Program!

  • Your business can support the production and digital delivery of The Index-Journal at a fraction of the retail cost of the paper.

  • 100% of your tax-deductible contribution goes directly to providing digital newspapers to classrooms in Greenwood and Abbeville Counties. No administrative fee is assessed, so your business receives the maximum tax benefit allowable by law.

  • The Index-Journal will promote your business as a good corporate citizen interested in quality education by recognizing your contribution in several "Thank You" advertisements throughout the year and through the NIE website.

  • You will play a role in raising standardized test scores, as research has shown that students in schools with an NIE program score, on average, 10% higher than students who do not receive the newspaper in their classrooms.

  • The Index-Journal absorbs the cost of the NIE staff, digital delivery of the newspaper to local schools and provide you with the quality advertising and promotion of NIE and your sponsorship.
